When Words Dance
Finding my voice

Confession: My creative muses have felt dormant lately, perhaps, like this rose, partially hiding under the mounds of snow on my lawn.
I pride myself as an editor in respecting the writer’s voice, yet my own voice feels distant, unknown, as if it’s an acquaintance I just met. As I enter this new chapter, I am reconfiguring… I will introduce you to this new voice when I find her.
When Words Dance
I understand the words’ meaning,
But they jostle in my brain.
Randomly shaking, gyrating, like wild toddlers
With boundless energy.
They won’t connect with each other,
Form patterns,
Join hands,
Or form any kind of whole.
The more I try to cajole them,
The faster they escape
Out of the paradigm.
I grab a lasso,
Change the music,
And still they jump, run, kick…
Without order,
Without comprehension…
Frustrated, I realize cohesiveness is not on today’s menu.
I look at their exuberance,
Envy their freedom and spontaneity.
Finally, infected by their energy,
I shake and loosen,
Feeling my body,
And I dance randomly,
With pure freedom,
And creativity.

I absolutely LOVE THIS JOY…..you are finding your words, for sure.
I couldn’t stop smiling!!🥰
Beautiful, Joy.
